A: Well unless you are spending an absolute fortune on advertising the URL of your website, then there is virtually no point at all!

Open Source Content Management Systems (CMS) vs Montpellier Interactive’s mi|cms platform:

In this video Matt Cutts also discusses the pitfalls of using open source CMS’s such as Wordpress and Joomla, and the importance of keeping these systems completely up-to-date. Open Source CMS’s are easily hacked as the code is freely available in the public domain; therefore anyone can try to reverse engineer it for their own purposes.

Did you know that both President Obama’s and Al Gore’s own websites have been hacked by people promoting pharmaceuticals!?

This actually causes a lot of problems as often the older custom modules used in these CMS platforms will often prevent you from upgrading to the latest software version as they are not compatible with the latest versions of the respective CMS.

Therefore (as these SEO experts will tell you from their own personal experience), the odds getting your website hacked (and subsequently removed from Google’s index altogether) when you use an open-source CMS are very high indeed.

To solve this problem, Montpellier Interactive clients benefit from the safety and security of a CMS which we wrote entirely in-house. As a result, it’s never been hacked (though this Wordpress Blog has). So we’re taking all the benefits of this blog, and improving our custom blog module for the CMS so that all our CMS clients can have the same benefits of a Wordpress blog, without the security issues surrounding one.

We also upgrade and update the CMS platform seamlessly, behind the scenes, and because we own the code, not only is your CMS platform always up-to-date and constantly improving, but it’s also far more secure than most alternatives!

Don’t get us wrong, once you’ve spent forever and a day downloading, uploading, installing and configuring every plugin under the sun, it’ll do most of the stuff our CMS can do, but having it all there right infront of you from the word GO saves a lot of time and frustration!

So anyway, back to the SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation; we were about to get bragging about some recent results we’ve achieved, and I think you’ll agree with our happy clients, when we say that these are pretty killer results!

So kicking off with relatively new web design client; Steck Depositors; these guys were over the moon, not only with their new website design, but also the virtually instant results it got, rocketing straight to the coveted number one spot within a week or two:

Next up we have a new start-up; Quicklook books who provide cheap, information eBooks to people with Kindle’s, iPods, iPads, in fact just about any electronic device which can display a .PDF file. We’ve almost hit the top spot for them, so watch this space!

Now we look at a more mature client who now dominates their marketplace for their main keywords. Cotswold Hot Tubs currently hold down the number one spot for their two main product offerings, being Swim Spas and Cheap Hot Tubs – check it out:

Second-to-last but certainly not least, we have The Point Blue Network – this local process server covers multiple areas which they now appear in the top ten search results for, but as a by-product of our work, we’ve also managed to gain them the coveted number one spot for their main USP – Urgent Process Serving.

Finally, Brit Commercial Mortgages – with good positions for Commercial Mortgage Cardiff, as well topping the charts for Commercial Mortgage Bristol, we’ve also bagged him the enviable top spot for the niche below – another happy customer; now recieving between five and ten enquiries a week from their website.

So there you have it, a by no means exhaustive list of recent SEO achievements.

The design for the inner pages of the website, was also to the client specification, and encorporates custom controls so that the image boxes, and the pages they link to, can be controlled using the content management system, providing full user control over the website design and appearance.

Choosing a platform for your web design that allows full design control is essential if you have an artistic website that needs to be regularly, quickly and easily updated. Strong calls to action in the footer of the site help to funnel website traffic towards the end goal of arranging a consultation – defining a goal is something that many website designs fail to do.

The other cool feature on their site was rather than drawing a map for the “contact us” page, you can simply embed a “live” map direct from Google Maps with your location already listed.

Finally we did our bare minimum SEO package for USS, and the site is already ranking well for national keywords for which they wanted to appear.

We provided a web design that was designed from the ground-up to be SEO-friendly, so that it would get picked up for their main keyword, as well as the areas in which they cover.

The addition of dedicated pages which cover each of the areas, provides relevant content to search engines, so that if someone enters Process Server + London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Oxford or Bristol, they find The Point Blue Network at the top of the pile.

By porting the flash site to our mi|cms platform, Chase can now easily ammend their website as often as they like, without incurring any additional expense. They have a dedicated support line that’s open from 8:30 am to 6:00pm weekdays, and most importantly an SEO friendly website which people can now find without knowing the name of the company.

They came to us looking for a way to edit their website, because it was made in flash, meaning maintenance virtually impossible and that search engines found it hard to see what the site was about.

We took their site and converted it to run on our content management system, so that it could be search engine optimised and the results were immediate.

One of our older clients now, but we thought we’d demonstrate how easy it is to convert your flash site to a CMS content management system.
